Welcome! You have been invited to follow this blog by either a student or leader of Salem First Baptist's Student Ministries. We are so glad you are here! It has been on our heart to have God move through our students in a big way, and we know that the main way to get that done is by having a body of believers praying for us constantly. Our goal with this blog is to keep you informed and up-to-date on prayer requests we have within our ministry, whether they be from an individual student or from the group as a whole. We want to thank you for your willingness to pray for us and the work God is already doing within the lives of our students.

PRAYERS OF THE WEEK:
For Our Students

This week we started our Christmas series called "Light of the World". The Christmas season is supposed to be the most wonderful time of the year. But for a lot of our students, it's complicated. It's a time of year that surfaces family tensions, unmet expectations, and the pain of absent parents or guardians. Pray as our students refocus on the true meaning of Christmas that they will not be distracted. Pray that if this is a complicated season for them, that they would be able to live in the truth that Jesus is the light and life that overcomes darkness.

For Our Ministry
Pray that our students and leaders would experience the joy of Christ as they worship Him in word and deed. Pray that with thanksgiving in our hearts we would reflect Jesus in all we say and do.

PRAYER REQUESTS FROM OUR STUDENTS:
- That I will not regress in my faith and that my relationship with Christ will be strengthened through hard times.
- Good grades, help with relationships with family and friends, help with peer pressure, help me not listen to insults or worldly influence.
- My mom for strength and an open heart to be able to forgive. My dad for understanding and to be able to see his wrongs. My brother for a craving for God and his family.
- I pray for strength. I have been diagnosed with anxiety and depression and I am scared I will never to be able to deal with it without my medication.
- I really need strength to finish the school year well. I feel bogged down and worn out. I need to find time to spend with God and do other important things. Also, please pray for my friends who aren’t living for God – Jessica, Madisen, and Becka.
- Dealing with depression, health problems, PTSD and flashbacks and a lot of pain.

PRAYERS OF THE WEEK:
For Our Students

This week we do not have Thrive or Fusion on account of Thanksgiving. A lot of our kids don't necessary enjoy breaks like this because their home life isn't good. Pray during this Thanksgiving holiday that students will be wrapped in love and peace, even when their home life might be filled with turmoil. Pray that as their families unite that it would be a good time of fellowship and celebration for them. Pray for safety for those who are traveling.

Angel Tree
This year our Thrive students and leaders are participating in Angel Tree. We have committed to purchasing gifts for 10 high school students. Pray that as we see students give money to this ministry, they will see the ripple affect of their giving. Pray they felt led to give.

PRAYER REQUESTS FROM OUR STUDENTS:
- I want to be able to have a good prayer life and continuous conversation with God.
- Help me control my temper. Help me to lead my girlfriend to Christ.
- I pray for a heart of gold that I can follow God’s own heart. For my parents to restore their relationship. For my grandfather to overcome the sorrow of the impending death of my grandma. I pray for a spirit to help me spread the Gospel. Better focus to study for school. Pray to overcome these lust of sexual feelings I have, for they distract me from the heart of God.
- That I would listen to the Holy Spirit instead of suppress Him. That my mom would have people in the church who would see her, ask her how she’s doing and support her. That the Holy Spirit would guide me as I take the SAT. That certain things in my life, my mom’s, and my brother’s lives would be bought back and given to us by God. That I will believe and trust God.
- I pray for confidence at work and at school and for peace. I have been feeling really anxious and have had a hard time being myself. Also prayer for my family in general.
- Prayer would be nice for making decisions for my future and what to do with my life. That the SAT’s go well. Pray for relationships in general.

PRAYERS OF THE WEEK:
For Our Students

We finished our last week in our series "Boulevard" and we wrapped up the series with a challenge - will you follow Jesus even if it costs you something? Pray that as our students wrestle with this, they see that following Jesus is worth it. Pray that as they would not be a consumer, but a follower. Pray they see that their soul is worth much more than this world.

For Our Ministry
Pray that our students and leaders would experience the joy of Christ as they worship Him in word and deed. Pray that with thanksgiving in our hearts we would reflect Jesus in all we say and do.

PRAYER REQUESTS FROM OUR STUDENTS:
- Allow my friend Robert to become a follow of Christ.
- Pray for my mom to get saved.
- That I’d be able to rely on God more throughout the year. That I’d be able to see myself the way God sees me. That I can bring my friend Alyssa to Thrive.
- For my mom for strength and forgiveness. For my brother for direction and a desire to seek God. For my dad for a new life with God.
- Recently, I have made some poor choices and I have had to confront those problems. It has been hard and I need the strength to move on from these issues.
- Sunday was like the worst day of my life and I don’t know why. I told my mom I think I have anxiety and depression and I have to explain to her why.

For Our Students

This week we continued with our series "Boulevard". This week we focused on people in our lives that are difficult to love. Pray that our students are able to clothe themselves in patience, gentleness, kindness, compassion, humility, forgiveness, and love. Pray they see this kind of faith is powerful, and that this faith makes a difference in the world.

For Our Ministry
Pray that the light of the church and the heart of the family would continually come together to reach and raise the next generation in Christ Jesus.

PRAYER REQUESTS FROM OUR STUDENTS:
- Pray that my mom and step dad except Christ.
- Good grades, a good school year, and a non-stressful school year.
- Please pray that as I work closely with friends who don’t share my beliefs, I would be able to say/do what I know is right, but still be accepting and loving towards them. I’m really stressed about school right now, please pray that I can have peace.
- Please pray that I will stay faithful and loyal to God as the next four months I won’t be able to come to Thrive. Also that I will stay on top of homework, tests and grades.

PRAYERS OF THE WEEK:
For Our Students

This week we started a 3-week evangelism series called Boulevard - which will teach students the importance of being a “boulevard” or road that connects their friends to Jesus. Pray our students are able to meet their friends with God’s love, not condemnation, to their situation. Pray as students interact with their friends who need to know Jesus, they will have opportunities to pray for them and invite them to Thrive.

For Our Ministry
Pray that students and leaders would depend on prayer for their direction, life, and purpose, that apart from Him we can do nothing. Pray we would boldly come to the throne of grace to seek God to do more then we could possibly ask or imagine. Pray that we would trust God is good, hears us, and responds.

PRAYER REQUESTS FROM OUR STUDENTS
- Prayer to help my dad and mom talk about their differences.
- Pray for my sister please, she’s getting an MRI since she’s been having a lot of headaches.
- Pray for my friend Elizabeth to accept Christ and for her to come to Thrive.

PRAYERS OF THE WEEK:
For Our Students

The past couple of weeks have been filled with retreats! At the Fusion retreat, we saw 5 students come to know Christ! Pray for those students, that they will continue to get plugged in and will continue to grow in their new faith! At the Thrive retreat, we had a very special "Say So" at the end of the weekend, we saw a lot of students be honest with what God is teaching them, as they wrestle with believing just how much He loves them. Pray that our students would be able to see and feel how much their Heavenly Father loves them. Pray against the enemy and his lies that he tells our students.

This week during youth group we have been focusing on who God says we are and why we should believe that, and act out of that.

For Our Ministry
Pray that student-leader relationships would grow as they do life together to mature in and for the glory of Christ.

PRAYER REQUESTS FROM OUR STUDENTS:
- Help me do well in school. Fix problems at home.
- Pray for calm during my busy schedule. To see my brother more. For my mom.
- School – that I will continue to work hard. Wisdom in the decisions I make.

PRAYERS OF THE WEEK:
For Our Students

This week we ended our series "Tough as Nails" -  Pray that as students see how fearless Jesus was that they would be challenged and find courage to act fearless as well; in their families, in their schools, and in their communities. Pray that when God lays something on their heart, they would act boldly. Pray they see that Jesus isn’t finished changing the world. That He is calling on each one of them to follow him.

For Our Ministry
Pray that the Gospel is proclaimed boldly, clearly, and often. Pray that the good news of God’s grace would be received and trusted. Pray for revival to come to Fusion and Thrive.

PRAYER REQUESTS FROM OUR STUDENTS:
- For school to go well. For sports to go well. To help me put Jesus first.
- To make new friends at my new school and get good grades.
- Excellence in school work. Closer relationship with God.

Pray that as they strive to do this, God would bless them and teach them.

PRAYERS OF THE WEEK:
For Our Students

We had our first week back at Thrive and Fusion this week! We had our student leadership teams (Thrive's the "Bringers" & Fusion's "Core Crew) come and we were able to get them excited for this school year! In Thrive we placed names on our Gospel Wall - a wall that has the names of students' friends that they would like to see come to Thrive and come to  know the Lord. Right now there are 43 names on the wall! Please pray for our students as we send them out into their schools to be a light for Jesus.

Please pray for next Tuesday and Wednesday - we have our official kick offs and are praying for each student that will walk through these doors. Pray that each student will feel welcome and known in our groups; that they will see God's love so evidently in our students and leaders.

Pray to for our students as they started school this week! Pray for this transition - especially those who started 6th and 9th grade!

PRAYERS OF THE WEEK:
For Our Students

This week we continued in our series "Ask It". We talked about the difference between being Simple (lacking experience), Foolish (knowing, but not caring) and a Mocker (critical of those who do right). Pray that as our students identify with one of these three categories, God will be moving in them, revealing new things to them and showing them His wisdom. Pray our students continue to ask themselves "what is the wise thing to do?". Pray that in spite of their past experiences, current circumstances or future hopes and dream, they will continue to ask that question.

PRAYER REQUESTS FROM OUR STUDENTS:
- As a senior there is so much stuff going on to prepare us for the future. I feel like there is no way to be fully prepared which is scary for me. I need prayer that I trust God’s plan for my future, that I live in the moment and follow God’s plan for me.
- God’s guidance, the gift of evangelism, a more servant attitude, protection from the evil one.
- End of senior year is coming and I have to make some difficult decisions about college and other things. Recently received some hard news and I am having a hard time processing it.
- Get through finals. Pass all of my classes. Influence my friends to attend Thrive.
- That I can love myself through the pain and negativity. Trusting certain people. Closer relationship to God. Pray that the people who are with me never leave me.

STUDENTS IN OUR MINISTRY:
This is a list of our seniors graduating high school this week and next. Take a couple minutes to pray over them, as they end their high school careers and their time with us in Thrive. Pray for their futures, that they will continue to love and serve the Lord no matter what comes.
