Welcome! You have been invited to follow this blog by either a student or leader of Salem First Baptist's Student Ministries. We are so glad you are here! It has been on our heart to have God move through our students in a big way, and we know that the main way to get that done is by having a body of believers praying for us constantly. Our goal with this blog is to keep you informed and up-to-date on prayer requests we have within our ministry, whether they be from an individual student or from the group as a whole. We want to thank you for your willingness to pray for us and the work God is already doing within the lives of our students.

PRAYERS OF THE WEEK:
For Our Student
This week both Thrive and Fusion had their annual Christmas parties and we had fun! Nights like these are meant to create laughter and memories, and we did just that! Pray that as we enter the Christmas season and with that, Christmas break, that students would be protected and safe. That those students that have rough family situations would be at peace and comforted during this time of year. That this time would be a time of family and togetherness. Pray that God would squelch any anger or animosity that might be floating through families.

For Our Ministry
Pray that the light of the church and the heart of the family would continually come together to reach and raise the next generation in Christ Jesus

PRAYER REQUESTS FROM OUR STUDENTS:
- Pray I am not angry all the time at the smallest things
- Pray for me as I decide who should be in my life and who shouldn't.
- Pray for my walk with God. I've felt very far away from Him lately.
- Pray that I can make some friends who are supportive. Pray that I remain strong in my faith.
- Pray for a good Christmas for my family and I.

STUDENTS IN OUR MINISTRY:
Please take a moment to pray for these students individually. Pray over their week, family life, friendships, and character.

PRAYERS OF THE WEEK:
For Our Student
This week we continued to look at what God says about family. We talked about how the Bible calls us to obey our parents. Pray our students see the value of respecting their parents and their family; that by doing this they are also pleasing and obeying God. Pray that out of their obedience God would show them blessing. Pray for those students who have a tough time respecting their parents because of brokenness. Pray that God would give them strength, courage, and comfort.

For Our Ministry
Pray that our students and leaders would see God for who He is, see themselves the way God sees them, and love others the way God does.

PRAYER REQUESTS FROM OUR STUDENTS:
- Stress and anxiety, find purpose in life, get a better group of friends; forgive those who have hurt me
- I am struggling with giving God a specific portion of my life and confessing a specific sin to Him. I need to give that part of my life up to Him and complete surrender.
- Pray for my family. School is a struggle and my relationship with God. Pray to avoid temptation.
- I would like  prayer to help my confidence and self-esteem.

PRAYERS OF THE WEEK:
For Our Student
We are continuing in our series called "Family Matters". Pray that our students believe that God has a purpose for their families. Every family has their share of problems - pray for those students who come from very hard family backgrounds. Pray protection over our students and families. Pray especially during this holiday season, that God would be with those students whose houses are in turmoil. Pray they see God use those hard things for good.

For Our Ministry
Pray that our students wouldn’t just come to Church, but own it, using their gifts, talents and influence to serve the kingdom. Pray that students would be bringing others into a life changing relationship with God and each other.

PRAYER REQUESTS FROM OUR STUDENTS:
- Pray that I can be diligent in balancing school and athletics, as well as continuing to work hard in both.
- I’m really struggling in keeping my grades up in math class. Prayer for more knowledge and understanding with the curriculum.
For my friend Jessica, she needs Jesus. I believe Jesus will break her heart. Pray she comes to Thrive.
- pray that I will be able to keep a clean mind and heart during school when it’s looked down upon to be different in Christ.
Pray for my family and pray that my stress and depression will be lifted.

STUDENTS IN OUR MINISTRY:
Please take a moment to pray for these students individually. Pray over their week, family life, friendships, and character.

PRAYERS OF THE WEEK:
For Our Student
This week we continued our series on God's Holiness. Pray that as students recognize that God is our standard for Holy, that their actions would follow suit. Pray that they see that as Christians, pursuing holiness is not an option for us - that we are called to be holy. Pray that they would not rely on good deeds, how many times they go to church, how much Scripture they know, or how much they give will not make them holy. Pray that they see it is Christ, and Him alone, that makes us holy.

For Our Ministry
Pray that the Gospel is proclaimed boldly, clearly, and often. Pray that the good news of God’s grace would be received and trusted. Pray for revival to come to Fusion and Thrive.

PRAYER REQUESTS FROM OUR STUDENTS:
- I’m working on giving God my life and trusting Him complete and always.
I’m not sure I’ve just been irritated lately and caught up in things a lot from my past and they are affecting me. I just feel a bit lost at the moment.
- My sister isn’t a believer and just started college at UofO. She’s in a class where they’re reading parts of the Bible and she’s starting to ask questions. I think God is doing something in her life and I would love prayer for her that she would be able to find Christ someday.
- Pray for my relationship with God and that I’ll make new friends and be bold to tell my friends and family about Christ.
- Pray that my relationships with others would be purposeful, that I would have Christ-like attitude among them.

STUDENTS IN OUR MINISTRY:
Please take a moment to pray for these students individually. Pray over their week, family life, friendships, and character.

PRAYERS OF THE WEEK:
For Our Student
We started a new study entitled "The New You" - a study on God's holiness. We looked at Isaiah's life and the unique encounter he had with God and His holiness. When we hold God to the standard of holiness, it is then that we see ourselves as sinners in need of God. Pray that as students wrestle with this, they recognize their own sinfulness. Pray they would confess their sin - to God, others, and themselves. Pray they take responsibility for their actions. Pray for the students and leaders - that they would be continually surrendering to God's call on their lives. Pray they see that by surrendering, they are willing to make changes in life so they can better reflect God's holy character.

For Our Ministry
Pray that the light of the church and the heart of the family would continually come together to reach and raise the next generation in Christ Jesus.

PRAYER REQUESTS FROM OUR STUDENTS:
 - Homework! I have so much stress and homework. I don’t h have any free time for Bible reading or devotions anymore.
- Just help with finding new friends in high school and understanding how to go about my "old friends".
- Work and pride that I have is distracting me from God. Fear of the future.
- I kind of feel lost; I don’t feel like my relationship with God has improved, I feel like it’s not there. I pray and talk to Him, but I feel empty. I just don’t know what to think or how to feel.
- that I would be challenged and discover/decide what I believe. To grow in faith and be bold enough to share that with others. To determine the true/valuable relationships in life. Not to lose the feelings from my school retreat. To change for the better. Be a leader for others. Devote time and effort to prayer, worship, and praise to God. Realize what’s important.

PRAYERS OF THE WEEK:
For Our Students
As we wrap up this series, the main question our students were challenged with was "How can I influence others?". Pray they would live lives that lead others to Christ. Pray they recognize and understand that their words have the power to influence others. They may not think how they act influences others, but someone is always watching. Pray they realize that everything they do has the potential to lead somebody to Christ.

For Our Ministry
Pray that the light of the church and the heart of the family would continually come together to reach and raise the next generation in Christ Jesus.

PRAYER REQUESTS FROM OUR STUDENTS:
- To be able to talk to my friends about Jesus.
- Protection from lust, have courage to speak out, read the Bible.
To have wisdom to choose the right friends at my new school. To do well in school this year and keep up with work.
- My health gets better, to not be stressed out at school, to make new friends and have the courange to talk to people.
I would find a real friend who inspires me to grow in Jesus. I would grow to know that God has made me a pure person and not fall into temptation.

PRAYERS OF THE WEEK:
For Our Students

This week we posed the question, "How do I resist the pull of peer pressure?". Many teens often feel lonely or left out. This makes it much easier to give in to negative peer pressure. Learning to resist negative peer pressure begins with a focus on Christ. Pray that our students would be able to stand strong in their faith when they might be persuaded to give in to negative peer pressure. Pray that they see that every decision they make today will effect them in the future. Pray they align their thoughts on motives with those of Christ.

For Our Ministry
Pray that students and leaders would depend on prayer for their direction, life, and purpose, that apart from Him we can do nothing. Pray we would boldly come to the throne of grace to seek God to do more then we could possibly ask or imagine. Pray that we would trust God is good, hears us, and responds.

PRAYER REQUESTS FROM OUR STUDENTS:- I’m feeling a lot of stress from homework and extracurricular activities. I want relief from my stress and more time to relax.
- That I can handle everything that school and extracurriculars throw at me and that I can put Jesus at the #1 priority in my life, to not just spend time with Him if I have time but to make time for Him.
- to be a better friend, that my uncle and aunt would become Christians.
-Life at home has been difficult with money, finding a place, parents, help me stop my bad habit, and my anxiety and stress.
